Our story

A tile family, rooted in the Lowcountry.

Three generations of Whitakers have laid tile across Berkeley County. Every project we take is one our friends and neighbors are going to see. That's why we do it right.

A trade passed down.

Jamie Whitaker grew up on job sites. His father — a stone mason and tile setter who spent his career restoring historic homes across Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and the greater Lowcountry — put a trowel in Jamie's hand before he was tall enough to reach a countertop. By his teens, Jamie was cutting subway tile for pastor's parlors and church vestibules across Berkeley County.

2008 — Starting Lowcountry Heritage.

After a decade working alongside his father and another running crews for a regional builder, Jamie founded Lowcountry Heritage Tile Studio in 2008 with one truck and a promise: every install would be waterproofed like it was going in his own house. Sarah, an accountant by training, joined a year later to run operations. She has never let a callback go longer than 24 hours.

The showroom opens.

In 2015 the Whitakers opened a proper showroom on Oakmoss Lane in Moncks Corner — a place where neighbors could touch the tile, ask honest questions, and get straight answers about waterproofing, slip resistance, and the way our humidity plays with grout. Their daughter Emily grew up sweeping that showroom's floors. She now leads design.

Today.

Lowcountry Heritage has installed over 900 showers, floors, kitchens, and outdoor spaces across Berkeley County and the wider Lowcountry. Every custom shower we build carries a 10-year installation warranty. But the real reason people call us back — and recommend us to their neighbors — is simpler than any of that. We show up. We do it right. We clean up. And we stand behind our work.

What we believe

Four values, one job site at a time.

Family first

We treat every home like we'd treat our own. That means honest advice, even when it costs us the sale.

Meticulous craft

Waterproofing, layout, grout lines — the details you don't see are the ones that make a tile job last thirty years.

Real people

You'll talk to Jamie, Sarah, or Emily. Not a call center. Not a subcontractor with a stranger's crew.

Local roots

We live in Berkeley County. Our kids go to school here. Reputation is the only currency that really matters.

The team

Small enough to know you. Skilled enough to earn your trust.

Jamie leads the install crews. Sarah runs operations and keeps every project on track. Emily handles design — she has the eye that turns a nice bathroom into the one your friends can't stop talking about. Together with a small team of long-tenured installers, we build every job like it matters. Because it does.
